Odekro has taken notice of the call for memoranda on the Right To Information (RTI) Bill, 2018. The call was made in a statement dated April 4, 2018, and signed by the Acting Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, Ms. Kate Addo.
Odekro however notes with great concern that the current Right To Information (RTI) Bill, 2018, for which the memoranda have been requested, has not yet been made accessible to Ghanaians on the website and social media platforms of Parliament.
Odekro is similarly concerned about the rather short duration, April 4 -13, 2018 (8 working days), which has been provided for the submission of memoranda on the Bill by the general public, especially taking cognizance of the great public interest this particular Bill commands.
Odekro therefore calls on Parliament to as a matter of urgency, make accessible the current official draft of the Right To Information (RTI) Bill, 2018, on its website and social media platforms and extend the deadline for the submission of the memoranda.
We hope these interventions by Parliament would facilitate the preparation and submission of useful memoranda to support the consideration of the Bill.
